Justin Hastings Makes History at the 2025 U.S. Open

Published -

We're thrilled to celebrate an incredible achievement from JLab Ambassador Justin Hastings! At the 2025 U.S. Open held at Oakmont Country Club, Justin made history as the first Caymanian to compete in golf's most prestigious championship while capturing the coveted Low Amateur title and Silver Medal.

Breaking Barriers at Oakmont

Among 15 amateurs who teed it up at Oakmont, Justin was the only one to make the cut and play the weekend. His consistent performance included three opening rounds of 73 and a final round of 76, finishing at 15-over par on one of golf's most demanding courses.

Justin's achievement places him among elite company of past U.S. Open Low Amateurs, including legends like Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, and Viktor Hovland.

From San Diego State to Golf's Biggest Stage

The recent San Diego State graduate earned his spot at the U.S. Open by winning the 2025 Latin America Amateur Championship in January. During his collegiate career, Justin became the most decorated golfer in San Diego State history, breaking numerous records previously held by current World No. 3 Xander Schauffele.

Championship Reflections

"It was such a treat just to be able to play in the U.S. Open and then let alone have the success to be able to call yourself low amateur, it's something I'll hold onto for the rest of my life," Justin shared after his historic week.

The experience reinforced his belief that he can compete at the highest level when his game is sharp. "I think I was just reaffirmed that, when I have my golf game, I can kind of compete out here," he reflected.

What's Next

Justin's breakthrough performance at Oakmont has announced his arrival on the global golf stage. Whether he continues in amateur golf or turns professional, his Low Amateur title and the confidence gained from competing with the world's best will serve as a foundation for future success.

Congratulations to Justin on this outstanding accomplishment! We're incredibly proud to have him represent JLab both on and off the course. His success is a testament to the perseverance, talent, and dedication we value at JLab.

Stay tuned to our channels for more updates on Justin's journey and Team JLab's continued success in professional golf.
