Jenevieve is an analog girl at heart and that's exactly what makes her perfect for the digital age. Her journey began not with a microphone, but with movement. Growing up in vibrant South Florida, Jenevieve was surrounded by rhythm from day one. Her Cuban mother, a former dancer for legends like Celia Cruz and Tito Puente, filled their home with diverse sounds while her maternal grandmother ran a dance studio where young Jenevieve studied everything from flamenco to hip-hop.
"The rhythm I developed through movement undoubtedly shaped my musical flow," Jenevieve reflects. It's this same appreciation for rhythm and flow that drew us to partner with her.
Finding Her Voice in Los Angeles
When her family moved to LA, everything changed. "It was tough," she remembers. "I got picked on a lot—for being so tall, having big hair. It was hard to make friends." But LA also opened new doors. Her breakthrough moment came through her mother's church, where a shy preteen delivered a spiritual reworking of Tupac's "California Love."
"Flowing, floating, writing songs..." as she describes those formative years. This period of discovering her voice resonates with our For Every You philosophy because finding your authentic sound is a journey, not a destination.
The Partnership That Changed Everything
Her creative partnership with producer Elijah Gabor changed everything. In early 2020, their collaboration produced "Medallion," followed by the breakout hit "Baby Powder," which has garnered over 175 million streams globally and led to a deal with Interscope Records.
Her debut project Division (2021) established her as one of the most exciting new voices of her generation, followed by the EP Rendezvous. "It was my first time on the road," she says about touring with Giveon. After touring, rather than rush into the next release, Jenevieve chose to re-center herself, leading to her latest work CRYSALIS.
