San Diego State basketball has long been built on a foundation of physicality, defense, and relentless effort. This season, that tradition continues with the arrival of Tae Simmons. A four-star recruit from Simi Valley, the 6-6, 230-pound forward brings a rare combination of size and skill to the Aztecs’ roster. JLab is proud to partner with an athlete who defines the high-intensity, “no days off” culture of SDSU basketball.
A 1,000-Point, 1,000-Rebound Legacy
Tae joins the collegiate ranks following a dominant high school career at Heritage Christian. He isn’t just a scorer; he is a force on both ends of the floor. By surpassing 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in high school, he proved he has the motor and the physical tools to dominate the glass while remaining a constant offensive threat.
His versatility is his greatest asset. As a junior, he was named the league’s Defensive MVP, and as a senior, he earned the Offensive MVP title. This dual-threat capability—averaging over 20 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 66% from the floor—makes him a perfect fit for the Aztecs’ system. Whether he is protecting the rim or attacking the basket, Tae plays with a level of power that demands attention.
Partnering with JLab: Tools for the Freshman Transition
Transitioning to the speed and physicality of the Mountain West requires immense focus. As a Business major balancing a rigorous practice schedule and academic workload, Tae relies on JLab gear to help him manage his daily routine.
Before stepping into the high-energy environment of Viejas Arena, Tae utilizes the Epic Lux Headphones. The premium noise-canceling technology allows him to block out the noise and visualize his role in the game plan. For his daily travels—from the training table to the classroom—he relies on the JBuds Lux Headphones for their long battery life and consistent comfort.
When he is active or training and needs to stay aware of his environment, he reaches for the JBuds Open Headphones. This allows him to keep his soundtrack going while staying connected to the world around him.
The Next Generation of Aztec Basketball
Tae Simmons represents the future of the program: tough, skilled, and ready to compete at the highest level. He chose San Diego State to continue his development as a winner, and JLab is excited to support his journey from his freshman season to his future goals.
We’re ready to see Tae make his mark in the red and black.
